Frequently Asked Questions
What is ReviewCar?
ReviewCar is a UK vehicle data lookup service. We provide instant access to DVLA vehicle records, complete MOT history, market valuations, and vehicle provenance checks (stolen, finance, write-off). Simply enter a UK registration number to get started.
Where does the data come from?
We source data from official government APIs: the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service for vehicle registration data, and the DVSA MOT History API for MOT test records. For Full and Premium reports, we also use licensed commercial data providers for specifications, valuations, images, and provenance checks.
How quickly will I receive my report?
Instantly. As soon as your payment is confirmed, your report is generated and displayed on-screen. You'll also receive a copy by email within minutes.
Is the free preview really free?
Yes, completely free. Enter any UK registration number and you'll see basic vehicle information at no cost. No payment details are required to view the preview.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. All prices are in British Pounds (GBP).
Can I get a refund?
As digital goods delivered instantly, refunds are generally unavailable after delivery under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. However, we refund for: technical failures preventing report generation, duplicate charges, or if the DVLA returns no data for the supplied registration. See our Refund Policy for full details.
How long can I access my report?
Your report remains accessible online for 30 days via the unique link provided. You also receive an email copy that you can keep permanently.
What is the VDI/HPI check?
The Vehicle Description Index (VDI) check searches multiple databases for records of theft, outstanding finance, and insurance write-offs. It provides similar information to an HPI check and is essential due diligence when purchasing a used vehicle.
Is my payment and data secure?
Yes. All connections use SSL/TLS encryption. We never see or store your payment card details — all payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.
Do you check Northern Ireland registrations?
Yes, we can look up vehicles registered anywhere in the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland.
What if the data in my report is wrong?
We relay data directly from official government sources (DVLA, DVSA) and licensed commercial providers. We do not modify this data. If you believe there is an error, we recommend contacting the relevant data source directly. See our Data Disclaimer for more information.
